During the VAS StudentenAvond (VASSA), the VAS gives speakers a podium where subjects are discussed that are important to us (as accountancy students). In addition, the students can express themselves and discuss the developments within the accountancy sector.
Thanks to the VASSAs, students come into contact with each other and the speakers, they stay abreast of recent developments and they can provide input in social discussions. In this way, the VAS also tries to contribute to current developments in the accountancy profession and society. During VASSA’s managing partners, leading persons and academics from the accountancy profession, but also CFOs from the business community, regulators, as well as politicians and (former) ministers from politics! Every VASSA is different and we always receive different speakers!
During the academic year 2021-2022 we welcomed a number of interesting guests, such as Roger Dassen RA (CFO ASML), Hanzo van Beusekom (board member AFM) and Antje Kuilboer-Noorman (lecturer of professional philosophy), Ron Dohmen (prosecutor and FIOD accountant) , Jan Garvelink (lawyer) and Mike Broekhof (fraud specialist), Natalie Knight (CFO Ahold Delhaize), Wim Bartels (sustainability auditor), Kavita Nandram (ESG reporting manager) and Usha Ganga (sustainability theme director NBA) and Jeroen Smit (writer, speaker and investigative journalist). We also organized the first external VASSA in June 2022. A collaboration with an accountancy firm to be able to organize a VASSA at a unique external location. The first edition was at Eredivisie football club Excelsior Rotterdam, in collaboration with Q-Concepts. This academic year, the VASSA committee will once again organize an external VASSA.
In the academic year 2022-2023, the planning of the VASSAs is as follows:
October 11, 2022
Niels van Nieuw Amerongen (Kreston Netherlands Professor of SME Accountancy at Nyenrode Business University)
About the new standard for Less Complex Entities
January 17, 2023
Nils Verheuvel (researcher at SEO)
About the ‘audit-only’ model
In addition, various VASSAs will be organized which have not yet been set down concretely. Don’t want to miss anything? Then follow the VAS on Instagram to always stay informed of our upcoming activities (including the VASSAs). It is also possible to take a look at our agenda, which includes the activities already planned.
